What to Expect When You Bring Us Your Computer

Should I repair my computer or replace it?

It depends on the problem and on you. We tell most customers to expect about three to five years of life from a computer. Some people are attached to their system and are glad to invest in keeping it going, while others would rather put that money toward a new one. Either choice is reasonable, and we'll give you an honest recommendation so you can decide.

As a general rule, these repairs are usually worth making:

  • Desktops: failed drives, power supplies, memory (RAM), and video cards.
  • Laptops: failed drives, power supplies, display assemblies, and screens.

A failed motherboard, on either a desktop or a laptop, is usually a reason to replace the computer instead. If you do need a replacement, we only recommend a refurbished one when a new one isn't available or when you want a less expensive option.

How long does a repair take?

Most repairs, including virus removal, Windows reinstalls, tune-ups, and hardware upgrades, can be finished in a day. Two things can make it take longer:

  • Parts. Many of the parts we use are special order, so we can't simply pick them up at a local computer store. Ordering time is added to the repair.
  • Data recovery. Reading a larger drive, 2 TB and up, can take a long time, and a drive that is failing can take longer still.

What does your 30-day guarantee cover?

Our 30-day guarantee covers our labor for the issue your computer was originally diagnosed with. We use manufacturer parts whenever possible, and parts are covered by the warranty of the vendor who sold them. For the full terms, see our pricing page.

Will you save my files?

That's up to you. If you want us to back up or recover your files, we charge one hour of labor. If you only want us to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows without saving anything, that is also one hour. We handle software problems in-house. If a drive has failed at the hardware level, we refer it to a specialist.

My laptop won't turn on. What should I try first?

Try discharging built-up static electricity. Unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery if you can, then hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Reconnect the power and try again. If it still doesn't start, bring it in and we'll take a look.

What do you see most often in Phoenix computers?

Dust. Many people don't realize that dust can conduct electricity. A buildup can reduce your power supply's output, slow your cooling fans, and cause anything with a heatsink to overheat. Cleaning out a computer is one of the simplest ways to extend its life here in the desert.

Do you offer remote or on-site service?

Yes. We offer in-shop, remote, and on-site service. On-site visits usually cover things you can't bring to the shop, like network and printing problems. For on-site service, an appointment is required, and the free diagnostic applies to computers dropped off at our shop only.

Questions & Answers

We charge a flat rate of $75 per hour, and most repairs are completed within one to two hours, so the majority of our customers pay between $75 and $150. More complex repairs, such as data recovery or extensive hardware work, may take longer. We offer free basic in-shop diagnostics, so you'll always have a clear estimate before any work begins, no surprises. To receive the free diagnostic, just let us know before we start any work. It applies to computers dropped off at our shop and does not apply to on-site service calls.

Screen and battery replacement are billed the same way as any other repair, using our flat rate of $75 per hour for labor, plus the cost of the part itself:

Repair Labor Time Labor Cost
Laptop screen replacement 1–2 hours $75–$150
Laptop battery replacement 30–60 minutes $37.50–$75

Parts cost is separate and varies: screen prices depend on your laptop's size, finish, and whether it's touch or non-touch, and battery prices vary by model. We'll confirm the exact parts cost during your free basic in-shop diagnostic before any work begins.

We charge a flat rate of $75 per hour with free basic in-shop diagnostics, so you know the cost before any work begins. There's no diagnostic fee, no surprise charges, and no pressure to buy anything you don't need. Most repairs total $75–$150. We've served the Phoenix area since 2008 and are BBB accredited. See our pricing page for a full breakdown.

We like to get your computer back up and running as quickly as possible. Our goal is to provide same-day repair service for most issues, but it may take up to two (2) days for more complicated repairs. Rest assured, we will strive to get your computer up and running as quickly as possible.

For in-shop service, walk-ins are welcome. No appointment is needed, though we recommend calling ahead at (602) 795-1111 to check our workload. For on-site service, an appointment is required.

Yes! We repair all laptop and desktop brands including Dell, HP, Asus, Acer, Lenovo, MSI, Toshiba, Samsung, Compaq, and Gateway. We also service custom-built computers.

Yes. For laptop screen replacement, we recommend you first order a replacement screen from a company like LaptopScreen.com (1-855-630-1111). Once it arrives, call us to schedule the installation. This approach saves you money since there are no local distributors of replacement screens.

No, we specialize in laptop and desktop computers only. We do not service phones or tablets. For phone/tablet repair, we'd suggest contacting your device's manufacturer or a local phone repair shop.

Yes, we assemble custom computers using parts provided by our customers. Call ahead to discuss your build and schedule a time.

Do not call the number in the pop-up. This is almost certainly a tech support scam. Arizona ranked 6th in the nation for cybercrime losses in 2025, according to the FBI's Internet Crime Report, and tech support scams remain a common tactic used against Phoenix-area residents. Local station azfamily recently covered one such case in On Your Side Podcast: Tech Support Scam Nightmare.

This depends on the age of the computer and the nature of the problem. A computer that's "slow" due to a virus, too little RAM, or a traditional spinning hard drive is often completely revivable with repairs costing well under $200, far less than a new machine. We'll always give you an honest recommendation. If a repair doesn't make economic sense, we'll tell you that too. For more on how we think through this decision, see our post on whether to repair, upgrade, or replace your computer.
